A Christmas Carol

Nothing evokes the feelings of Christmas quite like the retelling of Charles Dickens classic ghost story.  I worked with a group of very talented kids from Bayport High School in Green Bay, WI for this episode.

Our cast featured:

  • Bailey Preston
  • Tyler Stauffacher
  • Jeremy Thompson
  • Kelly Dolgner
  • Greta Schwandt
  • Andrew Alsteen
  • Maddie Paulsen
  • Evelyn Adams
  • Maggie Westbrook
  • Ella Fontecchio
  • Maya Ransom

And We’re Back!

This program started as something fun to do with my daughter and her friends.  Now that they have all graduated high school (and college), it’s time to shift the focus and introduce new kids to the art.

I will be working with a different high school each month and producing an original play.  The plays are all written, or re-written for radio by my daughter, Kylie, who has become an author in her own right.

The shows will be voiced by the students, with sound effect and music production coming from me.  You can follow along at wncy.com, the radio station where I work, or you can get the new episodes on iTunes, Google Play and Stitcher.  I’ll be embedding the new episodes here as well for your convenience.

Sherlock Holmes and The Case of the Dead Adventurers

For our second production, we had the opportunity to work with some very talented students at East DePere High School as part of their “Winter One-Acts” program. Everyone worked very hard and we recorded this version in our dress rehearsal. That turned out to be fortuitous as we had some speaker buzz and microphone troubles at showtime. In the end, we had a great time!

For your listening pleasure, we now present Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Dead Adventurers…

Welcome to Podcast Players.com

My name is Randy Shannon, and I have been a professional radio broadcaster for over 25 years.  When I was in the sixth grade, my English class performed a radio play called “The Pussycat and the Expert Plumber Who was a Man,” and I was hooked.  I have loved radio plays most of my life and always wanted to have the ability to produce them for people to hear.  The trouble, of course, is revenue.  There are very few, if any, radio stations left that would donate an hour or two to amateurs without the ability to make some money.

Flash forward to earlier this summer when I was telling my daughters about how much fun the radio play was to do and my dreams to create one.  My oldest, a budding actress herself, said she thought her friends in the De Pere Theater Club would probably be interested in doing it.  With a willing cast and the technology of Podcasting available… this website was born.

We hope to be bringing you new productions from time to time – either public domain or original material.  If you like our work, please recommend us to your friends.  The kids do this for fun, but we love an audience. 🙂

Regards,

Randy Shannon
